I didn't want to have to do this, but ... I am. Comment to be added. (Please be sure to tell me who you are!)

EDIT//: I made my journal entries private for two reasons: 1) for privacy's sake and 2) to make navigation easier for people on FP (I didn't want people to have to hunt for my FP-related updates through heaps of entries about ... well, nothing haha).

If you're my friend you'll get to see teasers, poll results, excerpts of my bad writing from high school, the weird shit I find on the internet, and the trivialities of boring uni life.

won't be posting complete stories here

Writer's Block: Nature or nurture

Do you think your moods are controlled by your brain chemistry or that your brain chemistry dictates your moods? Do you believe people are born with particular emotional temperaments or that they are primarily shaped by environmental factors?

Speaking as a Psychology major, I'd have to say d) all of the above. Moods are genetically determined, but your brain is highly plastic: that is, nothing is set in stone within your brain. People may be born with a genetic predisposition towards a given mood, but the environment can shape how that predisposition manifests itself.

For example, a husband with anger issues in a financially stressful situation and an unhappy marriage will be more likely to act on his anger than a husband with anger issues who is comfortable socioeconomically and whose wife coaxes him to go into anger management.

I have about 1,000 words for the next chapter of C&D. Not great, but I've been super busy.

Got my first exam grades! Aced one, but only got a B on the other. Bleh.

I hate college bookstores. When the prices of the books and other necessities finally add up, they are comparable to the tuition fee.

Plus, as a college student, you are responsible for getting the correct versions of your books. This bites serious ass. Some editions are hard to track down and if a professor is not specific, it is quite easy to get the wrong edition of a book--college textbooks are rewritten and new data and examples are added in later years. For example, my old history textbook from AP History stopped at the Bush Sr. administration, because at the time of its publishing, Clinton had not yet been elected. Translated texts are the worst, because not only do you have to get the right edition, you also have to get the right TRANSLATION, too. A bit of advice for you to set aside for later years.

Also, I will not be posting stories on this site. People have asked me--and continue to ask me--where they can read the stories I have removed from FP. The answer is nowhere. I have taken great pains to emphasize this fact: my LJ is for journaling purposes only. While other authors may use their Livejournals for posting stories, I don't for several reasons. Mainly because (a) the whole system irritates me--chapter navigation becomes unnecessarily complicated (b) it defeats the purpose of writing to a broad public--I don't want to write towards an "exclusive" audience because that seems elitist and snobby, and (c) if I care enough about a story to go through all this protocol, I probably shouldn't even HAVE it online in the first place.

So what does being my friend get you?
-access to poll results, spoilers (or hints) regarding upcoming chapters, the occasional teaser
-book and game reviews
-the intimate minutiae of my college life

I know I'm rather boring.

You are welcome to add me if you are a voyeur or a fan (or both, as the case may be) but don't expect any updates here, other than what's going on in my life or little statuses or tidbits concerning my active stories, because you are going to be disappointed.

That is all. Hope you all are having a good week--we're almost over the midway hump!

P.S. I apologize if my entries come off as brusque. I'm rather ... stressed ... at the moment. The last two days have been incredibly shitty--shitty for me, anyway--and I am not in the best of moods.

Oh. My. God.

College is so amazing. I've never actually cared about getting involved before, because in high school it was considered "uncool" to show school spirit, but here EVERYBODY does. And everyone is so smart, too. I just ... love it. I feel like I've finally come home.

And the boys are so cute. Well, nerdy-cute. My favourite kind of cute. :]

Unfortunately, I will not be updating for a while. Now that I live on my own, I am very busy. I do all my own housekeeping and probably spend about six hours studying--and school hasn't even REALLY kicked off yet. Yes, I know it's hard to wait--but I am very, very busy. So please, please take it easy about the messages telling me to update. I'm happy you like the story but it's very frustrating to get messages telling me that I'm being selfish or cruel because I can't really do anything about it right now. I'll update when I can.

On a similar note: Somebody sent me a message saying they nominated C&D for La Campanella awards, which is incredibly awesome. La Campanella is a kind of bohemian alternative to SKoW with stories that don't fit in with the mainstream romance theme e.g. bet stories, love-hate stories, rags-to-riches stories, snarky female protagonist stories, etc. A lot of unique stories are already up. My personal favorite (so far) is The House of Daria Vane by Bitter Irony, an Ira Levin-esque horror story.

Sorry if you're getting double-notifications about me updating C&D. I got a couple PMs from people saying that the chapter wasn't opening properly. I resubmitted it and it seems to be working fine now. :)

OMG. I am so tempted to buy this it isn't even funny.

With C&D more or less hitting the beginning of the end, I've set my sights on future stories. So today I put up a poll, with several premises that I am considering posting (in my copious free time, ha ha). If you care at all, please vote!

One person CAN make a difference.

Edit//: I recently read an interview with Stephenie Meyer in which she said that she writes mostly for herself. It's one of the few things I respect about her, actually; that she appears to enjoy writing so much. And that got me thinking, which do you think is more important: writing for yourself or writing for your audience? Would you rather write something you loved, but fewer people would want to read; or write something wildly popular that you didn't actually care for that much?

She looks like a fat Megan Fox.

I have a love/hate relationship with character pics. To be honest, I only really like them when they look EXACTLY the way I pictured the characters (for example, Morikumo's character pictures for her story Bride of the Immortal, are perfect, in my opinion). The reason I bring this up is because people have been asking me for character pictures, or who I envision Christina and Michael as.

(I was so tempted to say, "a fat Megan Fox" but that would be cruel)

So, since you ask, I guess I'd say ... Sebastian Rulli for Michael (he looks really hot here, too, although the background is kind of cheesy and they made him shave his chest--which I hate. Fuck you, Stephenie Meyer, a little bit of chest hair is sexy) and America Ferrera for Christina.

I think Gerard Butler looks a lot like Adrian.

This young man (Milo Ventimiglia) is how I picture the Sniper. And Rose McGowan is totally Shannon.

As for "A", I see her as a semi-young Julianne Moore. Although, I'd be interested to hear who YOU think the characters look like.

That said, I would pay big money to see Megan Fox fat. She just comes across as such a bitch in her interviews. Like that cruel, but incredibly stupid cheerleader we all hated in high school. Just take a look at these quotes and tell me I'm wrong.
